Location: North of England (regular travel to Liverpool, Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne)

Contract: Permanent, starting early August 2024.

Hours of work: minimum of 3 days a week / 24 hours, but always contactable

Salary: circa £55K per annum

The veterans’ charity, Launchpad, is recruiting a new CEO to build on the success of the past and to shape our development over the next decade. We’re looking for someone who displays outstanding leadership, has relevant experience of managing housing and vulnerable people, as well as passion and purpose. Someone who has a desire to help vulnerable veterans, most from a homeless background, by helping them secure a more stable future and where possible, employment.

Having been established in 2013, Launchpad now has three veterans’ houses that provide a total of 100 furnished one-bedroom flats for veterans and their partners: Avondale House in Newcastle upon Tyne, Speke House in Speke, Liverpool, and Hollyacre House in Sacriston, just outside Durham. Launchpad has helped over 600 veterans and is an influential member of the Housing Cluster of Cobseo (Confederation of Service Charities).

In addition to being responsible for up to 100 residents, the CEO will lead and motivate a staff team of about 25 people to a high professional standard, ensuring the charity’s work is of the highest quality and on budget. The CEO will answer to the Board of Trustees and will influence strategy, develop plans and deliver day-to-day operations.

The CEO will also influence veterans’ matters locally and nationally. Collaboration with other organisations and individuals should be second nature, and an empathy with our residents, and knowledge of support services is a must. The CEO will be adept with financial planning, audit requirements and the management of operational income and expenditure.  Knowledge of military life would be desirable.

In return, Launchpad will offer you a supportive and challenging board of trustees, committed to achieving the charity’s objects, reacting to veterans’ needs and making sure Launchpad is a satisfying organisation in which to work.

Launchpad is a modern, adaptable and exciting charity; we look forward to hearing from people who feel they can take on the responsibilities outlined and make a significant and positive difference to veterans in need.
