VALOUR Recognised Centre East Durham Veterans Trust
VALOUR is a government-funded programme that will ensure thousands of ex-forces personnel can visit veteran support centres across the UK and gain easier access to local services across health, housing, employment and more.
We are proud to be partners in VALOUR Northeast Alliance, led by East Durham Veteran’s Trust, to make sure veterans, serving personnel, reservists, and their families get the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
Who can get support?
- Anyone who has served for at least a day in the British Armed Forces
- Any family member or carer within the Armed Forces Community
- Any professional supporting the Armed Forces Community

VALOUR Northeast Alliance Partners
Armed Forces Outreach Service (AFOS) provide housing support and advice across all tenures, social housing, private rented and owner occupiers to those in housing need who may be vulnerable to losing their home. AFOS also provide housing advice and support to those who currently can’t access suitable accommodation or are living in unsuitable and unsafe accommodation and need to move. In addition, AFOS also provide housing support and advice to those who have general housing queries.
Defence Medical Welfare Services (DMWS) will launch a new welfare service in the community with reach into key hospitals and healthcare pathways to improve the healthcare experience, navigate complex health systems, reduce social isolation, improve physical and mental health, support with housing and homelessness, financial concerns, relationship problems and employment issues.
East Durham Veteran’s Trust service’s suppled include psychological support via case workers, support with housing, food and fuel poverty, benefit checks, PIP claims, housing items, armed forces compensation and armed forces pensions through supported referrals.
Royal Hospital Chelsea (RHC) Chelsea Pensioners Veterans Outreach seeks to promote comradeship opportunities for older veterans locally and via an online community (Old Comrades) to address loneliness and social isolation
The Poppy Factory helps veterans and their families to overcome obstacles on the path to employment. Its specialist team offers one-to-one employment support to help veterans feel heathier, more independent and better connected.
Veterans for Veterans in Care Supporting veterans living in care settings by reducing loneliness and social isolation through companionship, peer support, and staff training. We identify veterans, connect them with dedicated veteran services, and help ensure they receive the support, recognition, and sense of belonging they deserve.
Veterans Launchpad provide accommodation and individually tailored wrap around support for homeless veterans. Veterans can stay with Launchpad for up to two years, with the aim of successfully transitioning into independent living, with provision of floating support for as long as they need it.
